Center which has recently been opened in Livermore and which Pleasanton helped fund <br />and staff. <br /> <br />Regarding natural resources and public safety, staff updated programs about Zone 7’s <br />Stream Management Master Plan and Tri-Valley clean water requirements, and under <br />Policy 12, staff added programs to support the Working Landscape Plan and other <br />initiatives relating to preserving agricultural land. <br /> <br />Under economic development, staff recognized the Persevering Property project, <br />continued cooperation with Tri-Valley Business Council, and eliminated some infeasible <br />subregional programs. <br /> <br /> <br />Staff is asking for the Commission’s input before taking this to the City Council. <br /> <br />Commissioner Blank suggested that the Commission go through the document page by <br />page. <br /> <br />THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED. <br /> <br /> <br />There were no speakers. <br /> <br />THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED. <br /> <br /> <br />In response to an inquiry by Commissioner Olson regarding the derivation of the changes <br />in the document relevant to 1996, Ms. Stern confirmed that the changes were generated <br />by staff. <br /> <br />The Commission then discussed Attachment 1 and provided the following input. <br /> <br />Page 14-1 <br />Chairperson Fox suggested the following change: “The freeway and street systems have <br />become overburdened and air quality reduced because of long commutes which extend <br />beyond the Tri-Valley area.” <br /> <br />Commissioner Blank understood that one of the funded projects was the I-580 High <br />Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane. <br /> <br />Page 14-2 <br />Chairperson Fox had a question about why staff thought that the Health and Educational <br />Service sector will be a job growth area. She inquired what staff’s source was. <br /> <br />Ms. Stern replied that staff has some information from ABAG about jobs; future job <br />growth is listed by industry group.
