Consideration of additional hearing dates for special Planning Commission
meetings

Ms. Decker stated that following the direction given by the Planning Commission at its
April 11, 2007 meeting to have weekly meetings and the discussion with Assistant City
Manager Steve Bocian, staff is providing the Commission with agenda items for the
weekly meetings to clear the “backlog” as described at that meeting. She clarified that
the “backlog” is somewhat perceived as these are numerous projects in various stages of
getting ready to come before the Commission with possible dates of when they would go.

Ms. Decker explained that several variables are considered in the process of putting items
on the agenda, which includes, in addition to the City’s noticing requirements, checking
the applicants’ availability as well as that of their consultants. She stated that staff
surveyed the Planning Commissioners’ availability for special meetings on May 16, 2007
and May 30, 2007 and noted that there would be a quorum on both dates. She continued
that staff then checked the availability of the Council Chambers to maintain the City’s
PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES April 25, 2007 Page 3 of 11
