Commissioner Narum moved to remove this item from the Consent Calendar. Commissioner Olson seconded the motion. ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES: Commissioners Blank, Fox, Olson, Narum, and Pearce. NOES: None. ABSTAIN: None. RECUSED: None. ABSENT: Commissioner O’Connor. The motion carried. THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED. Marvin Kitterman, Gorman Roofing Services, stated that they do not use hot tar for roofing and, therefore, do not have tar kettles. He added that they did not have large trucks either; their largest truck is a ¾-ton pickup. Chairperson Fox recommended that Conditions Nos. 12 and 13 regarding tar kettles be deleted. Ms. Harryman advised that the use permit runs with the land and noted that while this applicant may not have tar kettles, future applicants would be allowed to use tar kettles if Condition No. 12 were deleted. Commissioner Blank suggested that Condition No. 12 be modified to prohibit tar kettles in the area. He noted that he could not find any conditions on large trucks. Mr. Kitterman stated that the staff report referred to a neighbor’s concern about truck traffic on Valley Avenue. Commissioner Blank informed Mr. Kitterman that he did not have to worry about that since it is not included in the conditions of approval. Commissioner Blank moved to make the required conditional use permit findings as listed in the staff report and to approve Case PCUP-189, subject to the conditions listed in Exhibit B, as recommended by staff, with a modification to Condition No. 12 that tar kettles shall not be permitted on the premises and the deletion of Condition No. 13 Chairperson Fox seconded the motion.
