MINUTES <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />January 16, 2007 <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Mayor Hosterman called the regular council meeting to order at 7:05 p.m., followed by <br />the Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilmember Cook-Kallio. <br />Mayor Hosterman noted that no reportable action was taken at the 6:00 p.m. closed <br />session. <br />Introductory Remarks <br />Councilmember McGovern reported that next Tuesday the City Council will hold a <br />Priorities Workshop; the Pleasanton Playhouse is currently presenting Once Upon a <br />Mattress at the Amador Theatre and the Century House Poetry Readings will continue. <br />The Pleasanton Downtown Association presents Truffles, Tidbits and Wine Tasting on <br />February 8. Livermore-Amador Valley Transit Authority will be conducting a public <br />outreach to gather suggestions for service enhancements to the bus service. She noted <br />that Pleasanton Unified School District is implementing a pilot mentoring program for <br />high school students and that they are seeking volunteers willing to provide additional <br />support for students, based on the student's needs and interests. <br />Roll Call <br />Present: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman <br />Absent: None <br />AGENDA AMENDMENTS <br />City Manager Fialho noted that staff is continuing Item 22, Citizen's Option for Public <br />Safety Programs and Items 25a and 25b draft Financing Plan for the Vineyard Avenue <br />Corridor and the Infrastructure Improvements to the February 6 meeting. <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Councilmember Thorne noted he will be abstaining from voting on the Council Minutes <br />for December 19, 2006. <br />Councilmember McGovern noted that she must abstain from Item 11 as the project is <br />on her street. <br />With respect to Item 7 and the non-smoking issue in City Parks, Councilmember <br />McGovern asked if the City Manager could research the possibility of posting non- <br />smoking signs in city open space areas due to potential fire danger. <br />Administrative Services <br />Approved regular meeting minutes of December 5, 2006 <br />Approved regular & special meeting minutes of December 19, 2006 -Thorne <br />abstained <br />
