<br />General discussion ensued regarding the responsibility of each council member on <br />disclosing travel and or proposed actions on various committee matters. <br /> <br />7. MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL <br /> <br />Councilmember Brozosky indicated Planning Commissioners expressed concern with <br />backlog issues and the need to hold additional meetings, but were required to receive <br />Council approval to do so. <br /> <br />Mr. Fialho advised the Planning Commission has the ability to hold additional meetings. It <br />may create some confusion for the public, but as long as it is well noticed and advertised <br />there should be no problem. <br /> <br />Councilmember Brozosky noted the anniversary of September 11 and added there will be <br />Freedom Walks throughout the United States and the Bay Area. <br /> <br />Mayor Hosterman commented on a prior public comment made earlier requesting the <br />Council support a community discussion regarding the war in Iraq. She asked that the <br />Council support adding this item on a future agenda. <br /> <br />Council member Sullivan noted that he had spoke with Mr. Norman at the break. Mr. <br />Norman indicated the need to have a community discussion on the war in Iraq. <br /> <br />Council discussion ensued regarding the possibility of a Town Hall Meeting regarding the <br />war in Iraq. The difficulty in taking a position as a Council was expressed. It was noted <br />that the importance of informing the community and allowing discussion about their <br />feelings. <br /> <br />After lengthy Council input, the consensus of the Council was not to entertain discussion <br />with the public on the war in Iraq. If the community has an interest in pursuing this, they <br />should email the Council and perhaps a different format can be created for this discussion. <br /> <br />Mayor Hosterman indicated she has received emails regarding large recreational vehicles <br />parked on neighborhood streets. She asked for Council support for staff to look at a <br />potential ordinance similar to what other cities have done in order to prevent people from <br />parking large RVs in their neighborhoods. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding priority setting with regard to specific issues. The issue of <br />staff's workload was brought up and the importance of having a priority list was expressed. <br /> <br />Staff suggested that the RV parking issue memo be re-circulated for possible future <br />discussion. <br /> <br />8. COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Sullivan noted on October 8 at 6 p.m., St. Clair's Church will be offering a <br />free screening of AI Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth." <br /> <br />Mayor Hosterman noted the City has proclaimed September 17-23, 2006 as Constitution <br />Week in the City of Pleasanton.
