C ty of Pleasanton <br />STAFF <br /> REPORT <br /> <br /> September 9, 1987 <br /> City Manager <br /> <br /> SUBJECT: Approval of the Alameda County Solid Waste <br /> Management Plan <br /> <br /> RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council <br /> approve the Solid Waste Management Plan, <br /> prepared and adopted by the Alameda County <br /> Solid Waste Management Authority. <br /> <br /> SUMMARY: Each California County is required to adopt a <br /> solid waste management plan. The Alameda <br /> County Solid Waste Management Authority is a <br /> JPA, which includes all cities in the County, <br /> Alameda County; and three special districts <br /> have been given the responsibility for <br /> development and adoption of the plan for <br /> Alameda County. <br /> <br /> Honorable Mayor and Members of the Council: <br /> <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> <br /> The plan was originally adopted in 1982 and the Authority <br /> approved a revised plan on July 29, 1987. A majority of the <br /> cities with a majority of the County population must also approve <br /> the plan within 90 days of the Authority's approval. Each member <br /> of the Council was sent a coy of the revised plan. A copy of the <br /> summary and background is attached. <br /> <br /> ~ R.
