<br />MINUTES <br />OF THE <br />MEETING <br />OF THE <br />PLEASANTON CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />September 20, 2005 <br /> <br />6:15 P.M. CLOSED SESSION <br /> <br />Conference with labor negotiator Nelson Fialho, regarding management compensation <br /> <br />plan. <br /> <br />Conference with legal counsel concerning claims of the FERMA Corporation - Callippe <br />Preserve Golf Course. <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Hosterman called the regular meeting of the City Council to order at 7:06 p.m. <br />Council member McGovern led the assembly in the pledge of allegiance. <br /> <br />Ms. McGovern informed the community that the new school year has started, and <br />students would be developing their community of character traits. The focus for the months of <br />August through October is on responsibility. She invited the community to attend the Heritage <br />Days Festival, which is sponsored by the Pleasanton Downtown Association (PDA) being held <br />on September 24 and 25. She mentioned that Pleasanton Partnership in Education is holding <br />its Bon Appetite, a grand culinary affair, on Saturday, October 8 at the Pleasanton Senior <br />Center. She informed the community that Pleasanton has some exciting cultural events coming <br />up in the month of October. The Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council is presenting local performer <br />Don Lewis in Young Expressions at the Amador Theatre on Saturday, October 8. This program <br />features Pleasanton youth who participated in the Youth Artist Achievement awards <br />competition. She informed the community that singer, songwriter and storyteller, Bill Harley who <br />is a Grammy award winner and local favorite, would be returning to the Amador Theatre on <br />Wednesday. October 26. <br /> <br />She informed the community that the City is currently accepting applications for seven <br />vacancies on the Youth Master Plan Implementation Committee. She also informed the <br />community of the opportunity to vote early for the upcoming Special Statewide Election. Early <br />Voting for registered Alameda County voters will be available in the City Clerk's office October <br />17 through October 28 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. <br /> <br />In conclusion, Ms. McGovern provided a brief overview of the City's participation in <br />providing assistance to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, including a Pasta feed silent auction to <br />be held on October 1 at Amador Valley High School. <br /> <br />Pleasanton City Council <br />Minutes <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />09/20/05 <br />
