Ms. McGovern asked whether staff would return with recommendations to
Council of CIP projects that could be removed in order for the funds to be reallocated.

Mr. Fialho pointed out that Council sets the CIP priorities and staff returns with
recommendations to Council on how to fully fund the CIP projects.

Mr. Sullivan questioned projects on the General Trail Improvements as compared
to the Trails Master Plan.

Mr. Wolfe noted that in working with the East Bay Regional Park (EBRPD), the
City was successful in securing a grant for the Iron Horse Trail. Ponderosa Homes is
conditioned to improve the trail section from Mohr Avenue to Bush Road. Along with
the grant, the City was successful in leveraging City and District money to complete the
section from Mohr Road to Santa Rita so that this section is completed.

Mr. Wolfe stated that the City continues to work with the EBRPD, the City of
Dublin and Livermore for improvements to the trails.

Mr. Sullivan asked when Council would see the recommendations coming
forward for these funds.

Mr. Wolfe said the Trails Ad-Hoc Committee would be making recommendations
to the Parks and Recreation Commission as projects become available.

Mr. Fialho believed the first project to come forward would be the Downtown
Corridor project. He believed this project is a high priority given the acquisition of the
corridor for parking and given the fact that there has been an interest in establishing
some type of trail connection through the downtown; a portion of those funds will fund
this project.

Mr. Sullivan questioned the acquisition of the new Community Park and its future
and whether it could be used for open space.

Mr. Fialho said this fund is made up primarily of In Lieu Park Dedication fees,
which means it can only be used for the acquisition of park or open space.

Mr. Sullivan asked for a status on the Gateway Signage project.

Mr. Fialho noted Council recently deferred the decision on this project until it
could understand what the various funding opportunities were for Capital projects.

Mr. Sullivan stated he would be in support of funding the Gateway Signage
project as he has heard from the business community it believed it would be an
important project for Pleasanton businesses.

Mr. Sullivan inquired about the tennis courts and the status of the Parks and
Recreation Commission evaluation of tennis courts needs and improvements and
whether it would be returned to Council for its direction.

City Council Workshop
18 06/08~05
