Ms. McGovern referred to agenda item 4j and noted that when she reviewed the
deliverables and major milestones of the 2005 Expenditure Plan, it indicated that the
request for proposals were released on February 1,2005. She did not want to short
change the amount of time the teachers in this community would have to submit grant
applications.

Ms. Diaz said this was a typographical error. She indicated that the application
process would not begin until after the month of April.

Ms. McGovern pointed out that this is quite a bit of money that is being agreed
upon. For fiscal year 2005-06, the Board is proposing to award a maximum of $50,000
in mini-grants, $200,000 in project grants, $50,000 for Board initiated projects, $10,000
for landfill mitigation projects and $15,000 for administrative support. These funds will
target environmental education programs that serve schools and non-formal
environmental education programs, serving students K-12. She was hopeful that this
information would be disseminated to teachers in this community. She noted that there
is a vacancy on the Altamont Settlement Agreement Education Advisory Board, and was
hopeful that science teachers in both the middle and high schools would consider
serving on this Board.

Ms. Diaz mentioned that there is an informational session available on May 19
and the deadline to submit applications for grant funds is July 1. Applications are
available in the City Manager and City Clerk's offices.

Mr. Brozosky asked what the process is for teachers who wish to be on the
Board?

Mr. Fialho said the application process tracks the City Commission process.
Staff will work closely with the School District.

It was moved by Ms. McGovern, seconded by Mr. Brozosky, that the
following actions under the Consent Calendar be taken.

a.
