Other Speakers <br /> <br /> Karen Cansler, a Pleasanton resident, requested Council's consideration to place <br />an item on a forthcoming agenda to address the control of raccoon overpopulation in <br />Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Jerry Wagner, a resident of Pdameda County, addressed Council with respect to <br />nitrate levels in his well and the residents of Happy Valley, which he believed was a <br />direct result of the construction of th~ Callippe Preserve Golf Course. <br /> <br /> Ms. Hosterman asked staff if there is a way to verify Mr. Wagner's contentions <br />regarding the nitrate level in his welli and also to determine whether higher levels are <br />occurring in other wells, and wbethe~ there is a nexus with the golf course. <br /> <br /> Ms. McKeehan said that the 0nly way to verify nitrate levels would be through <br />significant testing, and to test a property owner's well, the owner's permission would be <br />needed. <br /> <br /> Ashish Goel, a Pleasanton resident, suggested adding a link to the local businesses <br />in Pleasanton via the City's website that would encourage people to shop in Pleasanton. <br /> <br />6. PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS <br /> <br />6._~a <br />Alameda County Planning Commission's discussion concerning Granite <br />Construction Company's Asphalt Batch Plant. (SR 04:192) <br /> <br /> Mr. Brozosky recused himseff from discussion on this item due to a potential <br />conflict of interest. <br /> <br />Michael Roush, City Attorney, presented the staff report. <br /> <br />Mayor Pict opened the public hearing. <br /> <br /> Geoff Boraston, representingiGranite Construction Company, noted that Granite <br />Construction Company recognizes the concerns of the School District and the City <br />regarding the location of the asphalt plant, and believe it is important to have a dialogue <br />to learn how to address the issues of the community. Granite Construction Company was <br />made aware of the issues pertaining to lighting, noise, odor, visual impacts, and the <br />proximity of where Neal Elementary School is to be built from County staff. Granite <br />Construction hired a lighting expert Who advised the Company on how to change the <br />lighting to have less of an impact to ~he neighborhood. Granite Construction Company <br />has turned the lights off during non-production hours, and has re-directed the light <br />fixtures away and down from the neighbors. Some light fixtures have been completely <br />removed and relocatexl. He noted that the other key issue was noise.
