to allow the activity pool and the kiddy pool, but he was not willing to go beyond that.
He was not sure if the appellant is interested in having a water park that is that curtailed.

Mayor Pico indicated that staff could find out.

Mr. Brozosky was interested in asking the applicant that question.

Mayor Pico believed Council need to make its decision. He did not agree with
Mr. Campbell's comments. He believed the wave pool, activity pools and the Lazy River
were nice. He did not know if the thrill ride water slides needed to be constructed to
attract families. If Ms. Ayala's motion passes, he anticipated that Council would discuss
specific conditions.

Ms. Hosterman pointed out that in the last three weeks, Council heard that the
admissions fee, per ticket, went from $22 to $15.99. With the scaled back version, she
was wondering if the admission fee would increase back to $22. She was not sure that
Council was mindful of all of the components of this project. She believed Council could
discuss trying to create a project without the expertise of the appellant and his staff. She
did not understand the direction in which Council was going.

Mr. Brozosky did not believe the admission's fee would increase greatly. He said
the admissions fee need to be sensitive to the market, which is a decision that the
applicant will have to make.

Ms. Hosterman said that no matter what the cost of the admissions fees is, it still
will not be a project that is designed to take Pleasanton kids off of the streets. This
project will not be a new hang out and will be a very exclusive venue for very special
events.

Mr. Brozosky disagreed and called for the question.

It was moved by Ms. Ayala, seconded by Mr. Brozosky, to allow the
appellant to build a scaled down project that would include all of the ground level
amenities and four additional water slides on the same hill with the improvements to
the existing water slides, and requiring any expansions to go through a new and
separate review process (CEQA, conditional use permit, etc.).

The roll call vote was taken as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers -Ayala, Brozosky, and Mayor Pico
NOES: Councilmembers Campbell and Hosterman
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Mayor Pico stated that the motion, which passed, approved a scaled down version
of the water park that only includes four additional water slides plus the ground level
amenities that have been planned. He asked Council if there were any other conditions as

Pleasanton City Council 16 03/30/04
Minutes
