Way, and a fight onto Sycamore Road. This is a more round about way of getting to
Sunol Boulevard, which requires several turns and will result in slowing traffic. He
believed most drivers would take Sycamore Road, which is the most direct route. He
pointed out that using Dale Way requires several S roms, and once people learn there is
another way around, they will avoid it.

Mr. Brozosky concurred with Ms. Ayala's comments and believed it was easier to
stay on Sycamore Creek Road. He believed most drivers would tend to go in this
direction unless there were signs indicating that Sycamore Road jogs to the right.

Ms. Ayala was concerned that a future Council would have to deal with the traffic
if and when it is changed to Sycamore Creek Way. She believed the current Council
ought to make a decision to direct traffic on the road it was built for. She was pleased
that traffic would be slowed down if Dale Way was used by the public as an interim
connection between Alisal Street and Sycamore Creek Way, and her mind was open to
that option.

Mr. Brozosky indicated that he was open to considering using Dale Way as an
interim connection if that was what the public wanted. He saw this as an opportunity to
alleviate traffic from Sycamore Road, and if the residents on Sycamore Road did not
want Council to consider this option, he did not want to force it upon them. At the time
he recommended this option, he did not realize that Dale Way was a private road, and
was not aware until recently that private individuals owned that access.

Mayor Pico opened the matter for public comments.

Eron Bringhurst, 1456 Oak Vista Way, mentioned that his family owns one of the
stretches of land that Dale Way sits on. He believed it was possible to work something
out in terms of temporary use. He did not believe the property owners would find it
acceptable to permanently turn over Dale Way to the City. He did not believe it had been
thought through as to when the temporary use of Dale Way would terminate. He
complimented staff on its report. He agreed with Ms. Ayala and Mr. Brozosky's
comments related to directing traffic onto Sycamore Road. He did not believe the option
for using Dale Way would work for traffic leaving the golf course unless Council chose
to seal off Sycamore Road.

Gene Jordan, 6305 Laura Lane, concurred with Mr. Bringhurst's comments and
mentioned that once people realize where there is a short cut, that is where the traffic will
go. He believed it would not be worth the cost to acquire Dale Way, and he would much
rather see the costs go towards the bypass road. He noted that the Alisal Improvement
Club is anxious to get involved in helping to facilitate the development of the bypass road
in any way it can.

Jerry Wagner, 6344 Alisal Street, believed Dale Way was a wider and safer street
than either Happy Valley Road, Alisal Street, or Sycamore Road to accommodate the
golf course traffic. He believed signage could be used to keep traffic offthe narrow

Pleasanton City Council 21 02/03/04
Minutes
