MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PLEASANTON CITY COUNCIL February 3, 2004 6:00 P.M. CLOSED SESSION Conference with legal counsel concerning claim of Rachel Cason Conference with legal counsel concerning pending litigation (Signature Properties, et al. v. Pleasanton Unified School District) 1. CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Tom Pico at 7:06 p.m. Councilmember Ayala led the assembly in the pledge o f allegiance. She reported that early voting for the March 2 Primary Election would be held in the City Clerk's Office beginning February 9 through February 20 between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The last day to register to vote is February 17. She announced that the Pleasanton Unified School District had submitted an application for a nationwide competition for Communities of Character. The School District was notified that it is one of the 17 finalists and judges will be sent to the City to see how much of our Community of Character the City is able to show off. She was hopeful the community would help in this endeavor. She asked the community to think about its Community of Character values for the remainder of this year by trying to dwell on the positive aspects of Pleasanton, including the organized programs that are offered for children. 2. ROLLCALL City Clerk Dawn Abrahamson called the roll, which is recorded as follows: Councilmembers present were Kay Ayala, Steve Brozosky, M~itt Campbell, Jennifer Hosterman, and Mayor Tom Pico. Staff members present were: Deborah McKeehan, City Manager; Michael Roush, City Attorney; Dawn Abrahamson, City Clerk; Nelson Fiaiho, Deputy City Manager; Steven Bocian, Deputy City Manager; Brian Swift, Director of Planning and Community Development; Dave Iremonger, Financial Services Manager/Treasurer; Wayne Rasmussen, Principal Planner; Phil Grubstick, Assistant Public Works Director; and Pamela Ott, Economic Development Manager.
