Mr. Roush said it would either be 2003 or 2004. Council could not call for a
Special Election for a Council sponsored initiative.

It was moved by Ms. Michelotti, seconded by Mr. Campbell, to rescind the action
taken at the April 16, 2002 City Council meeting which was "to support the citizens'
initiative, but to strike the language that prohibits housing of any type on City-
owned land within the Specific Plan boundaries, and keep the provisions to prohibit
the transfer or sale of City-owned land within the Specific Plan Boundaries and to
require all such land to be accessible by the public."

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Campbell, Dennis, Michelotti and Mayor Pico
NOES: Councilmember Ayala
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Item 6b
Next Steps for the Bernal Property Task Force Recommendations on the Bernal
Property. (IR 02:020)

Mr. Swirl presented the staffreport.

Ms. Dennis asked if the 50-acre community park was part of the 277 acres.

Mr. Swirl said it was.

Ms. Michelotti asked if the park was part of the 195 acres.

Mr. Swirl said it was.

Ms. Michelotti said the 277 acres is the total acreage including the park, the
retention basins, the knoll and everything that is involved.

Ms. Ayala said in September 1999, when Council first started looking at this
piece of property, Council was looking to put together a package for Measure I that went
on the ballot. At that time, when Council was putting the Task Force together and giving
them their charge, isn't it a fact that they were looking at 408 acres to plan?

Mr. Swirl didn't recall the exact acreage. The basic Measure I Plan was to allow
development in portions of the area, and the City would purchase the rest of the land.
There was about 400 acres.

Ms. Ayala said the reason for asking was because when Council first put the Task
Fome together Council was looking at 408 acres to plan and Council figured that we
would have 374 houses, which is what Measure I called for, and 37 acres of office space.

Pleasanton City Council 9 06/04/02
Minutes
