MINUTES <br /> OF THE <br /> MEETING <br /> OF THE <br />PLEASANTON CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />6:30 P.M. <br /> <br /> September 18, 2001 <br /> <br />CLOSED SESSION <br /> <br /> Conference with real property negotiator Deborah McKeehan regarding consideration of <br />options to potentially obtain 3231 Vineyard Avenue, 3263 Vineyard Avenue, 4202 Stanley <br />Boulevard, and/or 735 Rose Avenue (mobile home parks). <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br /> The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order by Mayor Tom Pico at 7:00 <br />p.m. <br /> <br /> The Pleasanton Police Department Color Guard presented the flag along with members of <br />the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department and Mr. Campbell led the assembly in the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. All assembled sang "God Bless America". Mayor Pico requested a moment of <br />silence to honor those lost in the attack on the World Trade Center in New York City, at the <br />Pentagon in Washington D.C., and on Flight 93 in Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001. Allen <br />McFee played "Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pico noted the recent passing of the Chieftan of the Caledonian Club, Ralph Black <br />and asked that people honor his memory and his service to the community and the Caledonians. <br /> <br /> Ms. Dennis read a tribute to Thomas Burnett, Senior Vice President of Thoratec, Inc., <br />who, along with others, gave his own life to prevent a possible fourth aerial attack. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti read a commendation for the New York City and Arlington, Virginia, <br />Public Safety workers and volunteers who have assisted and continue to assist in the rescue and <br />recovery efforts in this time of national tragedy. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pico expressed his appreciation for the inter-faith services held last weekend. He <br />recognized the efforts of Susan Zablocki and Amy Peterson in organizing the candle light vigil at <br />Wayside Park on Friday, September 14, 2001. The young women indicated $1,200 had been <br />collected at the event for a donation to the Red Cross.
