Martin Luther King Jr. <br /> August 28, 1963 <br /> <br />Our community b a tapestry <br />of tony colored threads <br />woven by caring hands <br />The former council dyed the wool <br />carded and spun it <br />until threads of the past <br />melded with those of the present <br /> <br />With dedication they strove <br />to attain hues that were unique <br />as they envisioned varying patterus <br /> <br />Today a new weaver <br />pkks up the shuttle <br />steps to the loom <br />as his council sets the stretcher <br />to broaden P!easanton's horizons <br /> <br />Mayor Tom Pieo <br />will weave dren_ms <br />visions that reach into the future <br />so our community will continue <br />to live well today <br />and our children <br />will live well tomorrow <br />as they continue the weaving <br /> <br />Charlone VWella <br />Pleasanton Poet Laureate <br />December 5, 2000 <br /> <br /> <br />
