Ms. Dennis felt that if action were postponed, it would be possible to get more
information regarding actions being taken by the State. That may require totally different
strategy as far as the City is concerned.

Ms. Ayala preferred that in the short term, any extra time staff has be spent on
finding solutions to the City's problems.

Mayor Pico thanked staff for the reports and for the public comments. He will
continue to address these issues with other local leaders.

Ms. McKeehan reminded everyone that there is a meeting on Friday between
representatives from the three cities that was called by Senator Tom Torlakson to discuss
some kind of Valley solution to the transmission line.

Mayor Pico said this was also an opportunity to discussion a regional energy
policy.

Ms. Dennis asked staff to continue to keep the Planning Commission and Council
updated on the city's efforts in this regard. She also asked for documents to be circulated
to the members of the public who express interest.

Item 6e
PAP-10t (PDR-26/V-14) Nextel Communications and
PAP-11, (PDR-2\40/PV-15) Sprint PCS

This item has been continued to April 17, 2001.

7. MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL

Ms. Michelotti asked for an update on the current status of trails in Pleasanton.

Ms. Ayala asked staff to review the refuse rates issue raised by Mr. Mutschler.

Mayor Pico referred to the tool box of devices for traffic calming programs. He
believed the City of Livermore had added speed humps to its traffic calming tool box.
One of the significant objections in Pleasanton for speed humps has been the impact on
emergency vehicles and response times. Since the two cities now share the fire
department, he felt it appropriate to consider this again as a deterrent to excessive speed
in the neighborhoods.

Ms. McKeehan thought that Livermore had not adopted this, but she would check
on it.

Ms. Ayala asked for an evaluation of the effects of the roundabout installed in the
Kolln/Kamp area.

Pleasanton City Council 22 02/20/01
Minutes
