Approve Memorandum of Understanding with the Alameda County Sheriff's <br />Depamnent for the maintenance and operation of the East County Animal Shelter, <br />4595 Gleason Avenue, Dublin, California and authorize the City Manager to <br />execute all required documents. (SR 01:018) <br /> <br />Adopt Ordinance No. 1822 amending Chapter 11.20 of the Pleasanton Municipal <br />Code regarding the speed limit on Willow Road. <br /> <br />Adopt Ordinance No. 1823 amending Chapter 10.20, Alcohol Regulations, of the <br />Pleasanton Municipal Code. <br /> <br />Adopt Resolution No. 01-005, supporting the Pleasanton Unified School District <br />Character Education Program. (SR 01:021) <br /> <br />1. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> <br /> A commendation was presented to Jeb Bing, Editor of the Pleasanton Weekly, <br />congratulating him on the first year anniversary of the newspaper. <br /> <br /> Fred Rutledge, 6 Aspinwell Court, Orinda, President of the Blairgowrie Sister <br />City Organization, announced the Robert Bums dinner to be held on Saturday evening at <br />the Crowne Plaza Hotel and thanked Mayor Pico for his attendance. He indicated <br />delegates from the new Sister City of Fergus, Ontario, Canada, as well as representatives <br />from the Canadian Trade Council and the British Counsel General will also be in <br />attendance. <br /> <br /> Jeff Roy, 2602 Chocolate Street, expressed his concern about the proposed power <br />transmission towers. There is a linear park proposed for the area and he felt the towers <br />would detract from the enjoyment of the park. He asked Council to consider putting the <br />transmission lines underground. <br /> <br /> Ms. McKeehan indicated there is a PG&E hearing this evening at Vintage Hills <br />School on that subject and urged Mr. Roy to express his concerns there. The City of <br />Pleasanton is asking for underground lines as well and discussing alternatives with <br />PG&E.
