Mayor Tarver felt there was a problem for pedestrians there because they don't observe the red light. He suggested a no right tum on red sign. Ms. Michelotti believed that when pedestrians are moved to the south side it will solve some of that problem. Dolores Bengtson, 568 Hamilton Way, thanked City staff for all the hard work in preparing the staff reports and documentation needed for this project. She had previously complained about the shah timelines and the difficulty getting information, but she always understood the difficulty was in the timellne, not lack of effort on behalf of the statl~ She 'also thanked Council for its dedication and hours of work on this process. She thanked them for providing the option of a golf course on the west side. She appreciated including the 30-50 acre park in Phase I and looked forward to starting the planning stage. She hoped all the sports groups could reach agreement. The City will shortly begin the process for deciding the public uses and she hoped many citizens will p',~rficipate in that process and will understand that time is on our side. Whether it takes five, ten or twenty years to get all the amenlties the citizens want, it is a small point in time considering the long haul. There will be some expensive facilities in that list and she was willing to be patient. It was moved by Mr. Pica, seconded by Ms. Michelotti, to confirm the changes made to the Bcrnal Property Specific Plan (including the Mayor's changes), the CEQA findings, the Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Plan, and the Preannexation Development Agreement; to adopt Ordinance No. 1813, approvlng the zoning and prezoning; to adopt Ordinance No. 1814, approving the PUD development plan; adopting Ordinance No. 1815, approving the Preannexation Development Agreement; and adapting Resolution No. 00-116, concerning the exchange of properly tax revenue for the San Francisco Water Department Bernal Avenue property. This is a historic decision because the City of Pleasanton will now have the ability to control the property. She felt this was a good move for Pleasanton. Ms. Dennis echoed Ms. Bengtson's comments.
