Reverend McKean, representing the Pentecostal Church, listed approximately
eight developments, including the site around the southwest corner of Hopyard
Road and Las Positas Boulevard, that either had no property reserved for church
sites or else the cost of such property was priced for beyond the means of his
church. In answer to Mayor Gerton's question, Reverend McKean stated that the
list of conditions the City would impose upon the Pentecostal Church should the
appeal be granted, were reasonable and could be adhered to.
Councilmen Beratlis, Reid and Spiliotopoulos stated their reasons for not
being in favor of granting the Use Permit, namely; traffic, noise, and the imme-
diate proximity to residences. Mayor Getton stated that he did not think these
were legitimate reasons for denying a church with meanial funds to establish a
place to worship.
After considerable discussion, it was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and
seconded by Councilman Beratlis that Resolution No. 69-46, denying the appeal of
the Pentecostal Church, be adopted.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Reid and Spiliotopoulos
NOES: Mayor Getton
ABSENT: Councilman Rega

Mr. Campbell asked Mayor Gerton if he could, as a personal privilege, state
that it gave him much displeasure to see this matter dropped. Mr. Campbell stated
that this problem is bigger than just this one church being unable to find a site
which they can afford· Mr. Campbell suggested that a study of church sites be
initiated.
After some discussion regarding Mr. Campbell's remarks, it was moved by
Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Spiliotopoulos that the City staff be
authorized to initiate a study of possible church sites for small denominations.
The roll ~all vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Rega

SPECIAL REPORTS
R~eDort of the Fiesta "75" Committee
Mr. Fales announced that Mr. Clint Logan, Chairman of the Fiesta "75" Steering
Committee representing the Pleasanton Jaycees, was unable to present a progress
report because of illness and requested this matter be continued on March 17, 1969.

REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
ReDort of the PlanninM Commission Re: Appeal of the Pentecostal Church of God
The above matter was discussed under Matters Continued For Decision.

Report of the Planning Commission Re: Clarification of Tentative Map,.E~tepsion~_
Tract 2904 (Pleasanton Valley)
Mr. Fales read the report of the Planning Commission, dated February 27, 1969,
which explained that Tract 2904 was approved prior to the final date of Annexation
No. 49, in which the tract is located, and the expiration of this tract as set by
its approval is in error. Mr. Fales recommended that in order to correct this
error, the City Council change the approval date of the Tentative Subdivision Map
for Tract No. 2904 to July 6, 1967, to coincide with the approval date of the
annexation. Mr. Fales explained that the original approval, therefore, expired
on July 6, 1968, and adding one year time extension, as allowed by the Subdivision
Ordinance, would bring the expiration date of the Tentative Tract No. 2904, up to
July 6, 1969.
It was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Spiliotopoulos that
Resolution No. 69-47, changing the approval date of Tentative Map, Tract No. 2904,
Pleasanton Valley, to July 6, 1967, to coincide with the approval date of Annexa-
tion No. 49, be adopted.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Rega

~eport of the Recreation and Park Commission Re: Recommended Name for Orloff
E~rk
Mr. Fales read Recreation and Parks Commission Resolution No. R-69-5, dated
February 20, 1969, recommending to the City Council the name of "Amador Valley
Community Park" for the park which has had the temporary name of Orloff Park.
