R_~port of the Recreation and Park Commission ~e: Namin~..gf Fair!ands (T).P~r~ <br /> Mr. Fales read the recommendation of the Recreation and Parks Commission to <br />name the Fairlands (T) Park, "Lomita Alta Parkway". <br /> After some discussion it was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded <br />by Councilman Beratlis to refer this matter back to the Recreation and Parks Com- <br />mission for further consideration. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Getton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Rega <br /> <br /> The City Council suggested that perhaps the Recreation and Parks Commission <br />may wish to sponsor a contest to name these and other parks. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />A__D~roval of Plans and Specifications: Call for Bids Re: Construction of Fire <br />Station No. 3~ Santa Rite Road and Lss Positas Blvd. <br /> Mr. Pales reported that the final plans for this previously approved bond issue <br />project are now complete and the project is ready for bidding. He reported that <br />the total estimated cost is $168,297,00, with some $13,241.00 in deductible alter- <br />hates included in the bid document. <br /> Mr. Jim Hastings, representing Neill Smith and Associates, reported on the <br />architectural plans and estimates and presented a drawing of the proposed fire <br />station. <br /> It was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Reid <br />that Resolution No. 70-56, approving the plans and specifications of Fire Station <br />No, 3 on Santa Rite Road and Las Positas Boulevard and calling for bids on April <br />22, 1970, at 2:00 P.M., be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Rega <br /> <br />Matters for the Information of the Council <br /> Mr. Fales stated that the preliminary program for the Fireman's Muster, sche- <br />duled for June 6, 1970, has been forwarded to the City Council for their informa- <br />tion and review. <br /> <br /> Mr. Fales announced that the Community Concerns Committee meeting scheduled <br />for March 24, 1970, has been cancelled. <br /> <br /> Mr. Fales advised the City Council that a revised llst of the General Plan <br />Review Committee has been forwarded. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br /> There were no reports from the City Attorney. <br /> <br />COPLMUNICATIONS <br />From Mr. Dick Hunt, President of the Chamber of Commerce Re: Invitation to Chamber <br />of Commerce Meeting <br /> Mr. Fales stated that this letter has been forwarded to the City Council for <br />their information. <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> Councilman Spiliotopoulos stated that because of the attendance of the public <br />at the three "Density" meetings, there is evidence that the citizens are interested <br />in all aspects of the City's progress and problems, and suggested that the Council- <br />men and staff consider holding an "open house" meeting a day or two each year in <br />ordcr to acquaint the public with all phases of City operations. <br /> Mr. Fales stated that he would place this suggestion on a future agenda for <br />further discussion. <br /> <br /> Councilman Beratlis once again brought up the matter of the owners of commer- <br />cial establishments within the City not providing adequate refuse containers ~hich <br />is causing litter to be strewn about. <br /> Considerable discussion ensued regarding ways and means by which this matter <br />could be controlled. <br /> <br /> <br />
