MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> Pleasanton, California <br /> February 16, 1970 <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO FlAG <br /> Mayor Bernard Getton called the Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council <br /> to order at 8:00 P.M., and then led the pledge of allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> City Clerk Helen McCarty called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br /> Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Getton were present. <br /> Mr. Fales, City Manager, Mr. Edgar, Assistant City Manager, Mr. Hirst, City <br /> Attorney, Mr. Campbell, Director of Public Works, and Mr. Castro, Director of <br /> Planning, were present. <br /> <br /> ~ENR~AMENDMENTS <br /> Mr. Fales requested that item b-l, regarding the approval of a Time Extension <br /> for Subdivision Improvements in Tract No. 2860, Pleasanton Valley, be postponed <br /> until the meeting of March 2, 1970. <br /> <br /> Mr. Fales also requested that the following items listed on the Consent <br /> Calendar be continued at the meeting of March 16, 1970: <br /> c. Approval of Annexation Agreement regarding Annexation No. 62 (H.C.Elliott- <br /> 96.6 acres). <br /> d. Waive the reading of the Annexation Ordinance, annexing approximately 96.6 <br /> acres generally located south of Interstate Route No. 580 and east of the <br /> Fairlands Subdivision (Annexation No. 62). <br /> e. Introduction of the annexation ordinance, annexing the property described <br /> in Annexation No. 62. <br /> <br /> CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Beratlis <br /> that the following items listed on the Consent Calendar, be approved: <br /> <br /> b-2.Adoption of Resolution No. 70-30, approving a Time Extension for Subdivision <br /> Improvements for Tract No. 3062, Pleasanton Valley. <br /> <br />f. Waiving the reading of Ordinance No. 590 regarding the re-adoption of the <br /> New Traffic Ordinance. <br /> <br /> g. Re-adoption of Ordinance No. 590. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Rega, Reid, Spiliotopoulos and Mayor Gerton <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> There were no Public Hearings scheduled for this meeting. <br /> <br />MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br />Discussion Re: Petition reMardinJ~Mo__r~to_r~!p~ on RezoninK Increasing Densityji <br /> Mr. Fales read a letter from Mr. Wallace Decker, dated February 15, 1970, in <br />which he urged the City Council to consider the following statements: <br />1. Review the General Plan with an eye to reducing the planned holding capacity <br /> of the Valley and the City of Pleasanton. <br />2. Until pollution is under control, the City should not approve any increased <br /> density requests. <br />3. Until pollution is under control, new industry should not be approved if it <br /> makes additional smog or attracts a large work force in cars from outside <br /> the Valley. <br />4. If a credible plan for housing of low and medium income people is proposed, <br /> such as the plan for Pleasanton Greens, the City Council should consider <br /> approving the higher density zoning it may require, but it should be approved <br /> only to the extent it provides for people now living in the Valley or who <br /> intend to work here. <br /> <br /> <br />
