REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS Further Report of the Pleasanton Housing Authority_Re: Section 23 of the U. S. ~.9uSi~ Act of 1937 Mr. Fales read a letter from Mrs. Gall Shearer~ Secretary of Casas Bushas, dated January 6, 1970s which urged the City Council to approve Section No. Leased Housing Program in Pleasanton in order to ease the financial hardship on families receiving welfare that are paying rent that is higher than their budgets allow. Mr. Fales explained that the City participation will be for a maximum of 75 units within the City~ to be operated and managed pursuant to agreement between Alameda County Housing Authority and the City Housing Authority. Mr. Fales also stated that the City participation is conditioned upon the need and performance of the lease housing program at the end of one year from the date of commencement of the program. Mrs. Elizabeth Hall~ Chairman of the Pleasanton Housing Authority Commission~ also explained how individuals in Pleasanton who are receiving welfare assistance could benefit from a Section 23 Program in Pleasanton. Mrs. Hall also stated that Alameda County has money to finance this program for one year. After discussiou~ it was moved by Councilman Spiliotopoulos and seconded by Councilman Rega that Resolution No. 70-10, Authorizing the Housing Authority to participate in the Alameda County leased housing program as described in Section 23 of the Housing Act of 1965, be adopted.
