The Collector fully understands and agrees that the city will proceed to consider and may take advantage of and part- icipate in such changes if, in the judgement of the City, such changes are in the public interest. It is also understood and agreed tAlat no penalt_v of any kind will be sought by either party against the other in the event the City takes advantage of and participates in such changes in governmental organization and methodology regarding solid waste disposal." After additional discussion, it was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Mayor Reid, that the recommendations listed in the City Manager's Report entitled, "Proposed Franchise Extension: Pleasan- ton Garbage Service", dated April 1, 1971, be approved. The roll call· vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Beratlis, Spiliotopoulos and _r-~ayor Reid NOES: Councilman Pearson ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: Councilman Gerton Mr. Richard Yackley, who has proposed a dump site on Vineyard Avenue and is also awaiting County approval, advised the City Council that he had attempted to get the Council's attention during the discussion in order to present his proposal, but was unable to do so.
