REPORTS OF THE CITY ~.IANAGER Review of bids: Award of Contract Re: Black Avenue Improvements ~4r. Edgar reported that bids had been opened for the Black Avenue Improvements and that the low bid, in the amount of $5,495.00 was submitted by Williams Bros. Construction Co., Inc. tie also reported that the Engineer's Estimate on this project was $6,000.00. ~r. Edgar explained that the City had negotiated with other involved property owners and each had agreed to pay their one-quarter share of the cost of these improvements. It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Gerton that Resolution I.]o. 71-58, awarding the contract, in the amount of $5,495.00, to Williams Bros. Construction Co. , Inc. for Black Avenue improvements, be adopted. Report Re:.. Change Order Regarding Muirwood Park Mr. Edgar reviewed the report of the City Manager, dated March 11, 1971, which explained the sprinkler system in Muin~ood Park, its modifica- tions, and the City Manager's recommendations to complete the sprinkler system, add a major portion of tile cement asphaltic pathway system, add 43,200 square feet of turf, and add a two-inch domestic ~.~ater line for further drinking fountains and restroom facilities, for a total cost of $8,427.00. Mr. Edgar reported that sufficient funds remain in the Park Bond Fund to accomplish this additional work. It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Gerton that Resolution No. 71-59, approving Change Order No. 1 and authoriz- ing paymentin the amount of $8,427.00 for work to be performed as outlined in the City ~.~anager's report entitled "Modification and Expansion of Muin.;ood Community Park Project", dated March 11, 1971, be adopted. ABSENT: Mayor Reid Report Re: OppoSi.tion to Senate Bill No. 333 Mr. Edgar reviewed the report of the City Manager, dated March 11, 1971, which recommended that the City Council oppose Senate Bill No. 333. It was moved by Councilman Beratlis and seconded by Councilman Gerton that Resolution No. 71-60, oppossing Senate Bill No. 333, relating to compulsary arbitration with local safety employees, be adopted.
