MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> September 25, 19'72 <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER -PLEDGE TO THE FLAG <br /> Mayor Robert Reid called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at <br /> 7:00 P.M., and then led the pledge of allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called tlh~ roll which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson and Mayor Reid were present~ Mr. Edgar, <br />City Manager, Mr. Hirst, City Attorney, Mr, Campbell, Director of Public Works, <br />and Mr. Castro, Director of Community Development, were present, <br /> <br />AGENDAAMENDMENTS <br /> Mr. Edgar requested the addition of one item to the Consent Calendar regard- <br /> ing the acceptance of two Grant Deeds from Faiender Homes° <br /> <br /> CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilman Kinney and seconded by Councilman Herlihy that the <br /> following items listed on the Consen~ Calendar, be approved, with one amendment <br /> to the City Council Minutes for September 18, 1972. <br /> <br /> Approval of City Council Minutes for September 19, 1972, with an amendment <br /> on page 3, under Report Re: Speed Limits on Santa Rita Road, Councilman <br /> Pearson requested to go on record in opposition to the speed limit change <br /> because he felt the changes were trivial~ <br /> <br />b. Waive reading of Ordinance Noo 675, an ordinance to rezone from the A <br /> (Agricultural) District to the I-G (General Industry) District that pro- <br /> perty ironring Oakland Avenue immediately North and adjacent to the J. A. <br /> Jenks Company property, containing 1~45 acres, more or less. <br /> <br /> c. Adoption of Ordinance No. 675. <br /> <br />d. Adoption of Resolution No. 72-159, approving Notice of Intention to Re- <br /> linquish Highway Right-of-Way to California Highway Commission° <br /> <br />eo Adoption of Resolution No. 72-160, accepting two Grant Deeds from Falender <br /> Homes for easement over the sanitary sewer line and park site to the City. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Application of William Struthers to fezone from the A (Agricultural) District <br /> to the O (Office) District that property. described as Parcel 2 of Block 3295 <br />of Alameda County Map Book 946~ containing .95 acres,. more or less~ more commonly <br />known as that property ad3acent and immediately north of the Western Sierra pro- <br />perty frontin~ on Santa Rita Road <br /> Mayor Reid declared the public hearing open. <br /> Mr. Edgar presented the staff repozt, and s~ated tha= the Planning Commission <br />recommended a change in the rezoning from the A District to the P.U.D. District, <br />instead of as originally published (A District to the O District). <br /> Mro Castro elaborated on the Eeport and reviewed the staff's position on this <br />property, stating the P.U.D, designation would give more control and flexibility <br />to this property. <br /> <br /> <br />
