COMMUNICATIONS
Mr. Edgar reported to the City Council that a letter was delivered
to him this evening by Cyr Copertini from Congressman Stark, who
removed himself from discussions regarding establishing a Congressional
Office within Century House due to the recent controversy purrounding
this matter. He did indicate that he would like to establish an
office in Pleasanton, but is no longer interested in pursuing the
location within Century House.

CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS
There were no City Council Committee reports.

MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS
Councilman Herlihy announced that he planned to appear before the
Regional Water Control Board in Contra Costa County regarding the
Kaiser Landfill Proposal. He asked for support from the Council
as he plans to address the meeting Thursday evening and ask them
what standards they would guarantee to protect the water supply of
the City of Pleasanton. The Council had no objections to Councilman
Herlihy's remarks and Councilman Mori suggested that he notify the
Board that the City of Pleasanton is simply opposed to the entire
project.

Councilman Herlihy suggested that the City repaint all City
vehicles, with the exception of police and fire, a distintive color
in order that the citizens of Pleasanton may know any such vehicle
will come to the assistance of anyone needing help. Mr. Eagar replied
that the staff can look into that, but that the City Staff is already
pursuing this policy. He indicated that the staff will bring a more
complete program back to Council for it's information.

Mayor Reid asked the staff to interpret the PUD concept for the
benefit of the Council. The City Attorney gave a legal description
of PUD zoning, which is intended to provide a greater degree of
flexibility and to allow the City to require an applicant with PUD
zoning to present his plans for development prior to the time the
City gives him the specific zoning required.

CITY COUNCIL CALENDAR
Mr. Edgar announced the following meetings:
a. January 9, 1973 - Planning Commission Meeting, Justice
Court, 8:00 P.M.
b. January lO, 1973 - Valley Water Interest Meeting, V.C.S.D.,
3:30 P.M.
c. January ll, 1973 - Valley Planning Committee, Justice Court,
8:00 P.M.

Mr. Edgar reported that after speaking with Bill Hogan, there
will be no problem in continuing the CCC meeting until January 29,
1973.

EXECUTIVE SESSION
Mayor Reid declared the meeting adjourned to Executive Session
at lO:50 P.M. and then reconvened at 11:00 P.M.

It was moved by Councilman Herlihy and seconded by Councilman
Kinney that Resolution No. 73-10 authorizing certain right-of-way
acquisition for the Arroyo Macho Bridge Project in the amount of
$8,560 for approximately l~q. ft. of property be adopted.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson, and Mayor Reid
NOES: None
ABSENT: None

8.

1/8/73
