This continuance was granted.

MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION
Review of letter from E. G. McDonald, President, Del Prado Homeowners
Association; Re: Rezoning of certain parcels in Mackay.
Mayor Reid received several requests from members of the audience
to speak in regard to this matter.

Mr. Jack Berkley, 2356 Via Espada, addressed the Council. He
spoke in opposition to Mackay's proposal for additional multiple
and commercial zoning in this area. He felt that with the current
35-40% vacancy rate in Pleasanton apartment units, additional multi-
ple zoning is not needed in this area; especially with the eventual
multiple dwellings expected with the construction of the regional
shopping center in Stoneson. He also felt that the present shopping
centers in the area will adequately serve the needs of the Del Prado
homeowners.

Mrs.
Council.
cited the
tract.

Richard Bilheimer (Carol), 2308 Via Espada, addressed the
She also stated her objections to this proposed zoning and
94-unit apartment complex already existing in the Mackay

Mr. James McDermott, Vice President of the Del Prado Homeowners
Association, spoke in opposition to this proposal. Bis concern was
for the amount of children generated by an additional 252 units and
the fact that the overpass connecting this area to Foothill High
School will not be constructed for some time, causing more children
to be bused across town. He urged the Council to consider this
proposal in greater detail.

Mr. Frank Brandes, Jr., 6889 Corte Sonada, representing Del Prado
Homeowners, and also a member of the General Plan Review Committee,
felt that the report from Livingston and Blayney and the people now
living in the area should be considered before a final decision is
made.

Mayor Reid declared that this matter will be continued for two
weeks, pending completion of the staff report.

3 .

1/8/73
