MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> October 29, 1973 <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG <br /> MayorTM Robert Pearson called the Adjourned Regular Meeting of the City Council to <br /> order at 8:00 PoMp, and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson were present. Mr. Edgar, <br />City Manager, Mro Scheidig, City Attorney, Mro Campbell, Assistant City Manager/ <br />Director of Public Works, Mro Miller, Assistant to the City Manager, and Mr. Walker, <br />Assistant to the City Manager, were present. <br /> <br />AGENDAAMENDMENTS <br /> Mr. Edgar stated that a Special Safety Award would be presented to the City <br /> employees after the Consent Calendar. <br /> <br /> Councilman Mori requested that items 4b and c be removed from the Consent Calen- <br />dar for discussion. <br /> <br /> CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilman Mori, and seconded by Councilman Kinney, that the <br />following items listed on the Consent Calendar, be approved as amended: <br /> <br /> ao Approval of City Council Minutes for October 15, 1973. <br /> <br />b. Acceptance of Public Improvement, Johnson Industrial Drive adjacent to <br /> Clorox, and authorization to file Notice of Completion. <br /> <br /> co Renewal of Service Contract, Cooperative Personnel Services. <br /> <br />d. Acceptance of Public Improvements in conjunction with Vineyard Mobile <br /> Estates, and authorization to file Notice of Completion. <br /> <br /> eo Proclaim November 18-25, 1973, as National Bible Week. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Approval of Resolution commendins Earl War~en~.. retired Chief Justice of the United <br /> States <br /> Councilman Mori expressed his concern regarding routine approval of various items <br />on the Consent Calendar° <br /> <br /> Councilman Reid reviewed the establishment of the Consent Calendar, stating that <br />routine items were placed there in order to conserve time, and that the items were <br />screened by the City Manager or Mayor~ He suggested that if Council members didn't <br />agree with past policy it should be discussed at a future meeting° <br /> <br /> Mrs, Scheidig presented the background material regarding the Earl Warren com- <br />mendation resolution° <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Reid, and seconded by Councilman Herlihy, that <br />Resolution Nol~ 73-166, commending Earl Warren, Retired Chief Justice of the United <br />States, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Reid, and Mayor Pearson <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAINED:Councilman Mori <br /> <br /> <br />
