Matters for the Information of the Council <br /> Mro Edga~ presented a letter from Stephen Chandler to the City Attorney regarding <br /> Singer Housing Company suit and the possibility of dismissal of the suit pending <br /> approval of a banking facility on this site. <br /> <br /> Mr~ Edgar presented copy of a resolution passed by BART Board of Directors re- <br /> questing support for additional Federal and State funds. <br /> <br /> Mro Edgar presented a memorandum to the City Council in response to an article <br /> in the Pleasanton Times regarding officers salaries of the Pleasanton Garbage Ser- <br /> vices. <br /> <br /> REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br /> Consideration of resolution pertainins to Environmental Protection ~ency California <br /> Transportation Plan <br /> Mr. Scheidig presented his report regarding this matter, stating that if the <br />Council wishes to take a position urging a repeal of the parking surcharges, manage- <br />ment of parking supply and preferential bus/carpool lane regulations as required by <br />the Transportation Control Plan and advise members of Congress of such opposition, <br />it is in order for the Council to adopt a resolution stating such a position. He <br />further stated the City has been contacted by the City of San Jose regarding the <br />adoption of an ordinance pertaining to the above matter and asking if the City would <br />like to join in a group suit against E.P.Ao <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Reid, and seconded by Councilman Mori, that Resolu- <br />tion No. 74-20, approval to support the enactment of federal legislation which will <br />nullify the management of parking supply and preferential bus/carpool lane regula- <br />tions of the California Transportation Control Plan and postpone such other further <br />regulations until Congress reviews and approves a study including the economic im- <br />pact of such regulations and alternative methods of vehicle mile reduction, and <br />approving the participation by the City of Pleasanton in a group brief and auth- <br />orize the City Attorney to join in a group brief, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pro Tem Herlihy <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Pearson <br /> <br />Legislation <br /> Mr. Scheidig presented his report regarding Legislation. He requested that <br />AB 2610 be continued to the meeting of February 11, 1974, for full Council attend- <br />ance. Mr. Scheidig explained HR-8677, SB S.2747, and SB 522. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Reid, and seconded by Councilman Mori, that the <br />City Council take a position in opposition to HR-8677 and SB S.2747, and to <br />support SB 522. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pro Tem Herlihy <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Pearson <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br /> There were no Communications presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> There were no City Council Committee Reports presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> Councilman Mori requested that the City Council take a position regarding the <br />BART Corridors, and asked that this matter be placed on the agenda next week. <br /> <br /> Councilman Mori stated the National Energy Conservation Emergency Act allows <br />for the transferring of Highway funds into Rapid Transit, and requested that we <br />look into the possibility of using some of the Highway construction funding for <br />BART rail and bus lanes. <br /> <br /> 3. 2/4/74 <br /> <br /> <br />
