MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> August 28, 1975 <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> Mayor Edward Kinney called the Special Meeting of the City Council to order <br /> at 4:30 P.M. <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br /> Councilmembers Herlihy, LeClaire, McLain, Philcox, and Mayor Kinney were present. <br /> Mr. Edgar, City Manager, and Mr. Walker, Assistant to the City Manager, were <br /> present. <br /> <br /> SPECIAL ITEM <br /> Adoption of 1975-76 Fax. Rate ~or C~t7 of Pleasanton <br /> Mr. Edgar presented a further report regarding the 1975-76 Tax Rate, dated <br /> August 27, 1975, pertaining to information requested by Council related to pro- <br /> gram additions in the Departments of Housing and Community Development and Public <br /> Safety. <br /> <br /> Council discussion ensued regarding the title of "Housing Specialist" for the <br />proposed position in the Department of Housing and Community Development, and the <br />duties of this position. It was determined that before consideration of hiring <br />any personnel, that the City Council meet with the Housing Authority Board to <br />determine if the consolidation arrangement between City staff and Housing Authority <br />staff should be made permanent, and a clearer role of the position of the Director <br />of Housing and Community Development be made. <br /> <br /> Council discussion ensued regarding a possible reduction in the tax rate as a <br />result of the salary savings due to not filling the proposed positions until <br />approximately October 1, 1975. Council concurred this should be taken into <br />consideration which would reduce the tax rate by 2¢. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Philcox, and seconded by Councilmember Herlihy, <br />that Resolution No. 75-184, fixing the tax rate for the City of Pleasanton during <br />the Fiscal Year 1975-76, and establishing a Special Tax levy pursuant to Section <br />8809 of the Streets add Highways Code of the State of California, as follows: <br /> <br /> General $1.77 <br /> Bond .04 <br /> Total Tax Rate $1.81 <br /> Assessment District .03 <br /> GRAND TOTAL $1.84 <br /> <br />be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Herlihy, LeClaire, McLain, Philcox, and Mayor Kinney <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember LeClaire, and seconded by Councilmember Herlihy, <br />that Resolution No. 75-185, a Joint resolution with the Park and Recreation Com- <br />mission, commemorating the late Assemblyman Edwin L. Z'berg, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Herlihy, LeClaire, McLain, Philcox, and Mayor Kinney <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> <br />
