After further discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Brandes, that staff investigate and report back to City Council by May 1, 1977, the feasibility and desirability of renovating one of the follow- ing buildings suitable for City Council meetings; Amador High School, Veterans' Building, Aquatic Center, FootRill High School, and Women's Club. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers Brandes and Mercer NOES: Councilmembers Herlihy, LeClaire, and Mayor Philcox ABSENT: None ~yor Philcox and Councilmembers Herlihy and LeClaire expressed their con- cerns about the suitability of the other sites, costs of renovation, public comfort, and other similar problems. Matters for the Information of the Council Mr. Edgar presented his report dated December 1, 1976, regarding Highway Safety Program. REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY There were no reports of the City Attorney presented at this meeting. COMMUNICATIONS There were no Communications presented at this meeting. CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS Councilmembers presented various Committee Reports for the information of the Council. MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS Councilmember Brandes requested staff to investigate the possibility of an ordinance to control drinking in public. The City Attorney advisedMr. Brandes that this ordinance was in the process of being prepared. Councilmember Brandes requested that a priority list be established for items to be considered for the June Ballot. Councilmember Brandes asked about removal of political signs still standing on private property. The City's ordinance was summarized for Council's benefit. Councilmember Brandes requested a report on the status and use of the Mini- pumper purchased for Fire Station One. Councilmember LeClaire suggested that the Council meetings begin at 7:30 P.M., and end by 11:30 P.M. Council agreed to try to finish the agenda by that time. Councilmember Herlihy requested that staff investigate the possibility of changing the BART U Bus route for better service to Lawrence Livermore Laboratory. Mayor Philcox inquired about the safety of the railroad crossing arm at Santa Rita Road. CITY COUNCIL CALENDAR Mr. Edgar presented the Calendar for the Council's information. EXECUTIVE SESSION: Litigation Mayor Philcox recessed the meeting to an Executive Session at 1:25 A.M., to discuss discharges to the Sunol Sewage Treatment Plant. ~yor Philcox reconvened the meeting at 1:40 A.M. ADJOURh?.[ENT There being no further business at 1:45 A.M., it was moved by Councilmember Herlihy, and seconded by Councilmember Brandes, that the meeting be adjourned to meet again in Regular Session at 8:00 P.M., on December 13, 1976.
