After further discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded <br />by Councilmember Brandes, that staff investigate and report back to City Council <br />by May 1, 1977, the feasibility and desirability of renovating one of the follow- <br />ing buildings suitable for City Council meetings; Amador High School, Veterans' <br />Building, Aquatic Center, FootRill High School, and Women's Club. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes and Mercer <br />NOES: Councilmembers Herlihy, LeClaire, and Mayor Philcox <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> ~yor Philcox and Councilmembers Herlihy and LeClaire expressed their con- <br />cerns about the suitability of the other sites, costs of renovation, public <br />comfort, and other similar problems. <br /> <br />Matters for the Information of the Council <br /> Mr. Edgar presented his report dated December 1, 1976, regarding Highway <br />Safety Program. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br /> There were no reports of the City Attorney presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br /> There were no Communications presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilmembers presented various Committee Reports for the information of <br />the Council. <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> Councilmember Brandes requested staff to investigate the possibility of an <br />ordinance to control drinking in public. The City Attorney advisedMr. Brandes <br />that this ordinance was in the process of being prepared. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes requested that a priority list be established for <br />items to be considered for the June Ballot. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes asked about removal of political signs still standing <br />on private property. The City's ordinance was summarized for Council's benefit. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes requested a report on the status and use of the Mini- <br />pumper purchased for Fire Station One. <br /> <br /> Councilmember LeClaire suggested that the Council meetings begin at 7:30 P.M., <br />and end by 11:30 P.M. Council agreed to try to finish the agenda by that time. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Herlihy requested that staff investigate the possibility of <br />changing the BART U Bus route for better service to Lawrence Livermore Laboratory. <br /> <br /> Mayor Philcox inquired about the safety of the railroad crossing arm at Santa <br />Rita Road. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL CALENDAR <br /> Mr. Edgar presented the Calendar for the Council's information. <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION: Litigation <br /> Mayor Philcox recessed the meeting to an Executive Session at 1:25 A.M., to <br />discuss discharges to the Sunol Sewage Treatment Plant. <br /> <br /> ~yor Philcox reconvened the meeting at 1:40 A.M. <br /> <br />ADJOURh?.[ENT <br /> There being no further business at 1:45 A.M., it was moved by Councilmember <br />Herlihy, and seconded by Councilmember Brandes, that the meeting be adjourned to <br />meet again in Regular Session at 8:00 P.M., on December 13, 1976. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Herlihy, LeClaire, Mercer, and Mayor Philcox <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> 7. 12/6/76 <br /> <br /> <br />
