MINUTES of THE MEETING of THE CITY COUNCIL February 1, 1977 CALL TO ORDER Mayor Robert Philcox called the Special Meeting of the City Council to order at 5:30 P.M., at the Pleasanton Council Chambers.' ROLL CALL The roll call is recorded as follows: Councilmembers Brandes, Herlihy, LeClaire, Mercer, and Mayor Philcox were present. Mr. Edgar, City Manager, Mr. Scheidig, City Attorney, and ~. Campbell, Assistant CityManager/Director of Public Works, were present. RESIGNATION OF WILLIAM H. EDGAR, CITY MAN~GER~ CITY OF PLEASANTON Mayor Philcox stated that the City Council was in receipt of the resignation of William H. Edgar, City Manager, and it was in order to accept said resignation. After some laudatory public comment, it was moved by Councilmember Herlihy, and seconded by Councilmember Brandes, that Resolution No. 77-30, accepting the resignation of William H. Edgar as City Manager, effective February 28, 1977, be adopted. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Herlihy, LeClaire, Mercer, and Mayor Philcox NOES: None ABSENT: None MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC At this point Jill Daugherty, 1699 Orchard Way, representing Harvest Park School, read a letter signed by numerous students at Harvest Park indicating that they would like to participate in the physical restoration for the damage that was caused to Walnut Grove Park on the evening of January 21, 1977, at one of their dances. Mayor Philcox thanked Miss Daugherty and indicated that re- consideration of the City Council's letter to students of Harvest Park regarding this matter would be on the agenda for February 14, 1977. EXECUTIVE SESSION -Mayor Philcox recessed the meeting to an Executive Session at 5:40 P.M., to discuss replacement of the position of City Manager. Mayor Philcox reconvened the meeting at 6:30 P.M~ ACTION REGARDING REPLACEMENT OF THE POSITION OF CITY MANAGER It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Le- Claire, that Resolution No. 77-31, appointing Alan B. Campbell as Acting City Manager and City Clerk effective March 1, 1977, for an interim period during the recruitment of the new City Manager, be adopted.
