After considerable discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and <br />seconded by Councilmember Mercer, that Resolution No. 77-13, changing the name <br />of the Department of Human Resources to the Department of Recreation and Human <br />Resources, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Herlihy,!Mercer, and b[~yor Philcox <br />NOES: Councilmember LeClaire <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGKR <br />}~tters for the Information of the Council <br />Mr. Edgar stated that the Step 2 Grant for the Interceptor Sewer Project <br />had been offered, and that the City would ask for a thirty day extension, <br />pending the outcome of the LAVWMA project. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br />Amendment to City Attorney's Budget, R~: V.C.S.D. Litigation Expense <br /> Mr. Scheidig presented his report dated January 5, 1977, regarding this <br />matter. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Brandes, <br />that Resolution No. 77-14, amending the City Attorney's budget in the amount of <br />$587.50 to pay legal costs incurred by Valley Community Services District pur- <br />suant to the 1972 Settlement Agreement, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Herlihy, LeClaire, Mercer, and Mayor Philcox <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />PrOgress Repprt~ Re: Police Officers Yates and Crabtree in Lopez Suit <br /> Fir. Scheidig presented an oral report regarding the progress of hiring legal <br />defense for Police Officers Yates and Crabtree in the Lopez Suit. He stated he <br />had contacted two attorneys and would be meeting with the Police Officers <br />shortly to determine which one they preferred. <br /> <br /> Council made it clear that the City would do everything possible to insure <br />that Police Officers Yates and Crabtree had adequate legal counsel to defend them <br />in this matter. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Le- <br />Claire, that Resolution No. 77-15, authorizing the City Attorney to retain <br />Counsel for Officers Bill Yates and Fred Crabtree, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Herlihy, LeClaire, Mercer, and Mayor Philcox <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br /> There were no Communications presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilmembers presented various Committee Reports for the information of <br /> the Council. <br /> <br /> 6. 1/10/77 <br /> <br /> <br />
