387

Mr. Peter Turner, Attorney representing Thomas McManus, gave background
information on the property and requested favorable consideration by Council.

The following persons spoke in opposition to the application and amended
land swap proposal:

E. G. Meyer, 2510 Skylark, who presented two petitions signed by 310
residents, which read as follows:

"We the undersigned, object to the City of Pleasanton considering
~ ,

the re-zoning of land from Parks and Recreation to medium density
residential and subsequent trading of the land as specified in the
application of T. McManus for a general plan amendment. We have
specifically purchased our homes because they border a public park
and have paid a heavy premium for this privilege. Those of us who
do not directly border the park were largely influenced. by the fact
our children could be very near to sports and recreation facilities.
Any rezoning would ruin our hopes, desires and dreams for ourselves
and our children for the future. We consider it outrageous for the
city to grant a change in location of the park at this late date
after a community has been built around it and respectfully request
no changes be made. We wish to avoid legal maneuvers, class action
litigation and much ill will that would inevitably develop and would
be extremely costly to ourselves and the city of Pleasanton."

and

"We, the undersigned, object to the City of Pleasanton considering
the re-zoning of land from parks and recreation to medium density
housing as per the application for a land trade with the City by
T. McManus on April 12, 1978. Mohr Avenue would be the sole access
street for an additional 300 homes and would make this street a
highly dangerous one to live on for ourselves and children. This
could only cause a deterioration in value of our homes. We again
ask the City not grant this at the hearing on April 25, 1978, as
they would be responsible for the above mentioned hazards which
would be likely to occur at some future date."

Michael Harris, 2589 Larrikeet Court
Lucille A.
