be adopted. <br />The roll call vote vas as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Herlihy, LeClaire, Mercer, and Mayor Philcox <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Comments from Councilmembers <br /> Councilmember Mercer read his letter of commendation and thanks to Mayor <br />Philcox. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes expressed appreciation to ~yor Philcox and Council- <br />member LeClaire for their outstanding efforts as members of the City Council. <br /> <br /> Councilmember LeClaire stated she regarded her term on the City Council as <br />a unique experience in growth, learning, meeting new people, and values. She <br />thanked City staff for their assistance, City Council for their support, and <br />the citizens of Pleasanton for the privilege of serving them the past four years. <br /> <br /> Mayor Philcox commended the citizens of Pleasanton for their interest in the <br />City, the City staff for their assistance, and his family for their support and <br />understanding. Mayor Philcox thanked each Councilmember for their contribution <br />to a successful Council team. To the new Councilmembers, he challenged them to <br />hard work and to do their best, to have faith in themselves and in God. Mayor <br />Philcox thanked the City for the honor of being a Councilmember and Mayor. <br /> <br /> Mayor Philcox turned the Chairmanship over to Vice Mayor Mercer. Mayor <br />Philcox and Councilmember LeClaire retired from their Council seats. <br /> <br />Installation.o.~. Newly-elected Cit7 Council Members <br /> Mr. Broom administered the loyalty oaths, presented them with their Certifi- <br />cate of Election, and installed Stanley L. Kephart and Walter C. Wood as <br />Councilmembers of the City of Pleasanton, each for a term of four (4) years <br />of office from and after Tuesday, March 14, 1978, and until their successors <br />are elected and qualified. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Kephart expressed gratitude to the residents of the City for <br />electing him as a Councilmember. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wood thanked his v~e and the citizens of Pleasanton for <br />supporting him in his election to City Council. Councilmember Wood donated <br />his remaining campaign funds as follows: (1) $700.00 for stove for Senior <br />Citizens; (2) $400.00 for bleachers for Youth Sports Park; and (3) $200.00 <br />for trees for Pleasanton. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL REORGANIZATION <br /> It ~as moved by Councilmember Kephart, and seconded by Councilmember Brandes, <br />that Resolution No. 78-57, appointing Vice Mayor Mercer as Mayor for a term of <br />one (1) year, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Merlihy, Kephart, Wood, and Vice Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> 3o 3/14/78 <br /> <br /> <br />
