Kenneth Santos, 4086 Stanley Boulevard, stated he was opposed to any project <br />that would increase traffic on Stanley Boulevard, due to the traffic problems <br />already existing on this street. <br /> <br /> Sandy Gunnarson, 517 St. Mary Street, commented on the link street between <br />Rose Avenue and St. ~ry Street, and said that because of the elevation of the <br />tracks any turning movements at St. Mary Street would be difficult and dangerous. <br />She urged Council to give this matter serious consideration before making a final <br />decision. <br /> <br /> Earl Augusta, 3963 Stanley Boulevard, stated he favored the Western Pacific <br />track consolidation and requested that the addresses of any residences or busi- <br />nesses affected by the proposed track consolidation be included in the Final EIR. <br />Z-~yor Mercer instructed that this be done and that letters be sent to any persons <br />that might possibly be affected by this proposed project. <br /> <br /> ~oel Anger requested that the Western Pacific crossing be shown on the map <br />on page S-28 of the Draft EIR. Mr. Holley stated this would be shown in the Final <br />ElK. <br /> <br /> Thurman Candill asked what was going to be done about the rotted ties on the <br />Western Pacific tracks near Bernal Avenue and also about chemicals being shipped <br />on trains. Mayor Mercer instructed the City Manager to send a letter to Western <br />Pacific regarding the condition of the tracks. Mayor Mercer instructed the City <br />Attorney to find out if the City can.control the shipment of dangerous chemicals <br />through the City and who has authority to set train speed limits through a city. <br /> <br /> Frank Lowenthal asked if the City had funds to complete a Saute Rita Road <br />underpass. Mr. Brown advised the City did not have money for this project. <br /> <br /> Bernie Lane, St. John Street, stated he was opposed to any closing affecting <br />St. John Street. <br /> <br /> There being no further public testimony, Mayor Mercer stated that the final <br />EIR would be considered in public hearing on February 13, 1979, 8:00 P.M., Fair- <br />grounds Cafeteria. <br /> <br />ADJOUP~Y~h~ <br /> There being no further business, Mayor Mercer adjourned the meeting at ll:30 <br />P.M., to meet again in Regular Session on February 13, 1979, 8:00 P.M., Fair- <br />grounds Cafeteria. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> 4. 1/29/79 <br /> <br /> <br />
