No action was required or taken by Council on <br /> this item. <br /> <br /> Central Business District Residential Area Study <br /> Mr. Harris' presented his report dated November 20, 1979, regarding this matter, <br /> which recommends there be no general plan amendments or rezonings in the downtown <br /> area pending determination of impact of the Stoneridge Shopping Center and over- <br /> crossing, and the railroad consolidation project. <br /> <br /> No one in the audiencespoke on this item. <br /> <br /> Mayor Brandes stated he had received a telephone call from Planning Commissioner <br /> Getty requested that Council does not postpone indefinitely a decision on this item <br /> so that downtown planning could proceed. Mrs. Getty feels that the commercial core <br /> should be expanded at this time. <br /> <br /> Mr. Harris presented a Zoning Map showing location of existing multiples, <br /> single-family, commercial and industrial areas in the downtown area. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Wood, and seconded by Mayor <br /> Brandes, that Resolution No. 79-239, concurring with Planning Commission Resolution <br /> No. 1818, endorsing the Downtown Study prepared by the Planning Department in <br /> September, 1979, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Butler, Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Councilmember Butler stated he felt Planning Commission Resolution No. 1819 <br /> regarding policy statement relative to the Central Business District and Old Town <br /> Pleasanton was too restrictive and he was opposed to <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Wood, and seconded by Councilmember Mercer, that <br /> Resolution No. 79-240, concurring with Planning Commission Resolution No. 1819, <br /> issuing a policy statement concerning the Central Business District and Old Town <br /> Pleasanton as follows: "There be no changes in the zoning or General Plan designa- <br /> tion of the Central Business District or Old Town Pleasanton until such time as <br /> Stoneridge is open for one year, east-west overcrossing at 1-680 has been completed <br /> and it is determined that the Railroad Track Consolidation is going to be made", <br /> be adopted. <br /> <br /> 8. ii/27/79 <br /> <br /> <br />
