It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Wood, that Ordinance No. 986, approving the application of M.A.I. Industries, for development plan approval which would allow the construction of a 48,000 sq. ft., two-story office building to be located at the southeast corner of Stoneridge Drive and Foot- hill Road, the proposed property is zoned "PUD-Commercial/Office", be adopted. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer NOES: None ABSENT: None SPECIAL REPORTS There were no Special Reports presented at this meeting. REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS Substance Abuse Ms. Bengtson presented the report of the Human Services Commission dated July 23, 1981, regarding this matter. After discussion, Council endorsed the report of the Human Services Commission as follows: (1) support and promote a climate of openmindedness and awareness in the City of Pleasanton, in the Pleasanton School District, and in the media serving Pleasanton in the area of substance abuse; (2) support the efforts of Parents Who Care, Community Based Organizations, and any other legitimate organization offering services in the area of substance abuse; (3) prioritize law enforcement directed against narcotic dealers at a higher level to allow more budget hours directed in this specific area; (4) support a local workshop for those professionals who work with youth (schools, police, agencies, churches,'recreators, etc.) to exchange in- formation, provide updated information from other professionals considered experts in specific areas of substance abuse, and to develop a city communication network in this specific area; and (5) continue to support alternative leisure activities for youth and adults. Council instructed the City Manager and Police Chief to work together to prioritize law enforcement against narcotic dealers at a higher level if possible.
