Council concurred. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br />Report on Possible Violation of Noise Ordinance by Interstate Industrial Laundry <br /> (Contd. from 10-11-83) <br /> Mr. MacDonald presented his report (SR 83:476) dated October 20, 1983, regarding <br />this matter. He presented a petition filed with his office dated October 24, 1983, <br />signed by 30 residents in the area, which read as follows: <br /> <br /> "We the undersigned residents of Walnut Drive and Ray Streets, Pleasanton, <br /> California, support the staff position as covered in Pete MacDonald's report <br /> to the Council dated October 20, 1983. We specifically agree that a 12 foot <br /> vertical stack with 3 inches of sound absorbing material with limited screen- <br /> ing program of an 8 foot wire mesh fence with slats would be an approved <br /> method to reduce sound levels of 50 DBA". <br /> <br /> Mr. MacDonald also presented a letter from M. Craig Connelly, Director, Business <br />Development, of the Interstate Nuclear Services, dated October 25, 1983, which states <br />that "Interstate Nuclear Services, Corp., is prepared to commit to staff recommenda- <br />tions item number I (ie; a 12 foot stack with three inches of sound absorbant insula- <br />tion and screening of the collector on the west and north side with an 8' chain link <br />fence with redwood slats) if the design review board will approve the proposed screen- <br />ing system". <br /> <br /> Mrs. Juanita Bianci, 4105 Walnut Drive, thanked Mr. MacDonald for his assistance <br />in resolving this matter. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Council- <br />member Wood, that Resolution No. 83-478, requiring Interstate Nuclear Services to <br />install a 12 foot stack with three inches of sound absorbant insulation and screen- <br />ing of the collector on the west and north side with an 8 foot chain link fence with <br />redwood slats, to be approved by the Design Review Board, and to be completed within <br />three weeks or so after being finaled by the city, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Mercer, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Butler <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Application of the City of Pleasanton to amend certain provisions of Chapter 2~ Title <br />II of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton with regard to outdoor displays <br /> Mr. Harris presented his report (SR 83:465) dated October 17, 1983, regarding this <br />matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Butler declared the public hearing open on this item. <br /> <br /> Ms. Lori Scott Venter, 210 Rose Avenue, basically representing the Chamber of <br />Commerce Subcommittee, stated that this group had met with the Downtown Committee <br />and most of the merchants and retailers; all of whom are in agreement with the pro- <br />posed amendment to the Outdoor Display Ordinance. <br /> <br /> No one in the audience spoke in opposition to this item. <br /> <br /> Mayor Butler declared the public hearing closed. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Wood, that <br />Ordinance No. 1104, to be read by title only and waiving further reading thereof, <br />amending certain provisions of Chapter 2, Title II of the Ordinance Code of the City <br /> <br /> 5. 10/25/83 <br /> <br /> <br />
