Williams to the Pleasanton Housing Authority
Board for a four year term, said term to expire January 25, 1988, be adopted.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Mercer, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Butler
NOES: None
ABSENT: None

Discuss Alternative Actions Available against BART for removing the Pleasanton-Livermore
Extension from Priority List
Councilmember Mohr requested this item be placed on the agenda for discussion as to
alternative actions that might be taken to insure BART rail extension to the Valley. After
discussion, Council took the following action: (1) authorize the Mayor to write letters to
Senators Wflson and Cranston requesting their support for the Livermore-Amador Valley BART
rail extension before service to other counties; (2) request the East Bay Division League
of California Cities to adopt a resolution in support of the Livermore-Pleasanton BART rail
extension; (3) instructing the City Attorney to talk to the City of Antioch relative to
their litigation against BART to which the City of Pleasanton has contributed funds to
participate; and (4) authorize the Mayor to write letters to local representatives, Super-
visors Bort and Excell, as well as BART Board Director Robert Allen, expressing dissatis-
faction with their representation and for the unfairness of the situation, and requesting
protection of the Cityts interest in the BART rail extension service.

Councilmember Brandes, as liaison to the Park and Recreation Commission, requested
staff to prepare a report regarding use of the Court's prisoner work program for possible
implementation by the City.

Councilmember Mohr requested staff to investigate and prepare a report on the feasi-
bility of preserving the old Mohr house now located at the end of Martin Avenue, which is
now vacant and being ravaged. Staff advised they will investigate
this matter.

Councilmember Wood asked about the completion date of the soundwall being constructed
by Ponderosa on Valley Avenue. Councilmember Brandes advised that it will be completed
within three weeks.

Mayor Butler stated there is legislation pending now regarding acquisition of park
lands, AB 737. He requested that Park and Recreation Commission review this bill and
recommend a position to the City Council for possible transmission to Senator Lockyet.

Mayor Butler advised that the citizens committee working on a Sister City Program
for Pleasanton would soon be presenting a formal application to Council for implementa-
tion of such a program. He stated that the program should not require any funding by
the City.
4. 2/14/84
