No action
was required or taken by Council on the item.

Report Regardin9 Alameda County Senior Housing Needs Task Force
Ms. Sara Conners, Chairperson of the Alameda County Housing and Community
Development Task Force, stated a group of volunteers has been meeting in an
effort to find ways to provide more housing for seniors. She stated that
after two years of study they felt the most appropriate way to get the needed
housing is to have a general obligation bond issue placed on the ballot, pos-
sibly next Spring, to finance construction of housing for low income seniors
and the disabled in Alameda County. She advised this would provide approxi-
mately 1700 units throughout the County. She stated this matter will require
support by all cities in Alameda County; she asked Council to endorse the con-
cept of the use of County General Obligations bonds to finance the construc-
tion of low and moderate income senior housing. After discussion, it was
moved by Councilmember Mohr, and seconded by Councilmember Butler, that
Resolution No. 87-266, endorsing in general principle a general obligation
bond issue to finance the construction of housing in Alameda County for low
income senior and the disabled, be adopted.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer
NOES: None
ABSENT: None

MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS
Land Use and Transportation Task Force
Mayor Mercer presented his memorandum dated June 8, 1987, regarding this
matter. He stated that Supervisor Knox has proposed to the Alameda County
Board of Supervisors the formation of a task force to study land use and
transportation planning of the entire County. Council discussion ensued
regarding the various committees already established in the Valley to study
specific transportations needs in this area. Council felt a County-wide com-
mittee would not address the problems of the Tri-Valley area. It was moved by
Councilmember Wilson, and seconded by Councilmember Brandes, not to have rep-
resentation on the proposed Alameda County Land Use and Transportation Task
Force.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer
NOES: None
ABSENT: None

Consideration of any matters relating to Growth Management including all mat-
ters covered in the two proposed initiatives to amend the General Plan

3 - 6-16-87
