237 MINUTES of THE MEETING of THE CITY COUNCIL April 19, 1988 COMMENDATIONS Mayor Mercer presented commendations to Mike Geib, for his soccer coaching record at Amador Valley High School; and to Dean Schenone and Pacific Nurser- ies for a donation of trees and plants to the City of Pleasanton. CALL TO ORDER Mayor Kenneth R. Mercer called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at 8:00 p.m., and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. ROLL CALL Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as fol- lows: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer were present. Mr. Walker, City Manager, Mr. MacDonald, City Attorney, Mr. Elliott, Director of Public Works and Utilities, Mr. Swift, Director of Planning and Community Development, and Ms. Bengtson, Director of Parks and Community Ser- vices, were present. AGENDA AMENDMENTS Mr. Walker stated that item 12g Traffic Report for Intersection of Vine- yard Avenue and Adams Way, has been removed from the agenda at the request of staff. Mr. Walker advised that a letter had been received from TMI this date requesting continuance for two weeks of item gc - Application of the City of Pleasanton for adoption of plans and policies relating to the TMI Specific Plan Area, an approximately 155 acre site located generally east of Foothill Road, north of Bernal Avenue, and west of Interstate 680. Council discussion ensued regarding time of continuance due to Councilmem- bers being out of town at future meetings. Mr. Jack Wong, representing the applicant, stated the request for post- ponement at this meeting was to allow a meeting with the Foothill Knolls group; he would not like to have the item postponed for longer than a month. Mayor Mercer stated this is an important item and he would prefer that all Councilmembers be present when the matter is considered, therefore he declared the matter continued to the meeting of June 21, 1988. ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER Mr. Walker introduced Mr. Steve Bocian, new Assistant City Manager for the City of Pleasanton. CONSENT CALENDAR It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, that the following items listed on the Consent Calendar be approved:
