201 <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and <br /> Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />item 9b <br /> <br />RZ-88-5~__~Q~ication of the Ci~ o~ Pleasanton to prezone an <br />~Qproximatel~ 6.5 acre site located on the north side of <br />Vineyard Aven~_~proximatel~ 450 feet east of the intersection <br />of E1 Capiron Drive and Vineyard Avenue to the PUD (Planned Unit <br />DevelOpment) - Medium Densi~ Residential District or to an~_ <br />other district consistent with the General Plan. <br /> <br />Consider Adoption of Negative Decla~ation <br /> Mr. Swift presented the report (SR:88-148) dated April 5, <br />1988, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open on the <br />application and the negative declaration. <br /> <br /> Mike Harris, representing Country Investors, stated that he <br />concurred with Planning Commission recommendations. He stated <br />that he would like to talk about the density of his project. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes responded that the application was <br />simply for prezoning, and that the density could be discussed at <br />a later time. <br /> <br /> Ken Lam, also representing the same parcel of land, <br />expressed some concern about staff's recommendation regarding <br />density of the project. <br /> <br /> Mary Halverson of Clara Lane, spoke in opposition to the <br />project. She displayed a map drawing of the area in discussion. <br />She expressed concern that the density would be too great and <br />that the surrounding areas would be adversely affected. She <br />also expressed concern that the visual beauty of Vineyard Avenue <br />and the nearby foothills would be destroyed. <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift explained that the project could contain low and <br />medium density. <br /> <br /> Ron Schneider, 650 Orofina Court, said he was not opposed <br />to the project. His recommendation was for no more than three <br />units/per acre. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer reiterated that the application tonight was <br />for prezoning, not density. <br /> <br /> Nancy Storch, 3915 Chardonnay Drive, expressed her concern <br />about density being too much. She also requested that Vineyard <br />Avenue be considered as a scenic corridor. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer responded that Vineyard Avenue could be <br /> <br /> Page 10 4-5-88 <br /> <br /> <br />
