No action was required or taken by Council on the tiem. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer presented a plaque t6 Police Captain Gary Johansen, <br />who has resigned to accept a position as Police Chief of Palos Vetdes Estates, <br />c~mending him for his outstanding performance while with the City of <br />Pleasanton. Captain Johansen thanked the Council, City staff and o~m~unity <br />for the opportunity of working in this capacity. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer advised that Dublin San Ramon Services District has <br /> rescinded their $300.00 incre~__se in sewer connection fees. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated that although the City of Pleasanton did not take a <br />position on safety features for 1-580 as did the cities of Dublin and <br />livere, he has been working with Senator Lockyer to get added safety <br />features on this freeway. Senator Lockyer has been successful in getting the <br />Highway Patrol to double the number of patrolmen in this area, and Caltrans <br />has agreed to a lighted warning signs to be delivered within ninety days, in <br />an att~ to reduce traffic haze on 1-580. Mr. Lockyer is attempting to <br />get warning signs delivered sooner than ninety days. <br /> <br /> Counc~]member Butler suggested allowing truck movement onto the third <br />lane over. Mayor Mercer felt t2LiS would increase truck speed. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes suggested restricting truck traffic on the highway <br />during certain peak oa~u,ute hours, which he did not feel would be detrimental <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr stated she would l i~a to see something done before the <br />highway becomes a "blood alley". <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wilson stated that trucks have radar detection devices so <br />they know when radar is being used - he understood there is a new r~a~v <br />detector that cannot be detected by trucks; he felt this might be a method of <br /> <br /> There were no City Council Oa~,,~Httee Reports presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />MEETING OPE~q TO THE PUBLIC <br /> Mr. Michael Lynn, negotiator for the Pleasanton City Employees <br />Association, stated there is a problem with the employee relation <br />negotiations.
