197 <br /> <br /> MINUTES <br /> OF <br /> THE MEETING <br /> OF <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> OCTOBER 4, 1988 <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> Mayor Kenneth R. Mercer called the Regular Meeting of the <br />City Council to order at 7:30 p.m. He introduced Webelo Troup 947 <br />who led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer introduced Michael Roush, new City Attorney for <br />the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is <br />recorded as follows: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, <br />Wilson, and Mayor Mercer were present. Mr. Bocian, City Manager <br />Pro Tem, Mr. Roush, City Attorney, Mr. Swift, Director of Planning <br />and Community Development, Mr. Elliott, Director of Public Works <br />and Utilities, Mr. Eastman, Police Chief, and Mr. Smith, Director <br />of Building Inspection, were present. <br /> <br />AGENDA AMENDMENTS <br /> Mr. Bocian requested that item 4i, Denial of the Claim of <br />Karin Williams, be removed from the agenda at the request of <br />staff. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he has received a request to consider <br />item 9b regarding a skateboard ramp as the first public hearing so <br />that young people in the audience could participate and then go <br />home at a reasonable time. Council concurred. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wilson suggested that item 12a regarding the <br />Cardroom Ordinance be considered after public hearings because of <br />the large number of people in attendance. Council concurred. <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by <br />Councilmember Butler, that the following items listed on the <br />consent Calendar, as amended thereto, be approved: <br /> <br />a. Approval of City Council Minutes for 9-20-88 and 9-22-88. <br /> <br />b. Declare November 19, 1988 as "Young Audiences' Night". <br /> <br />c. Adoption of Ordinance No. 1384, amending the Noise Ordinance <br /> regulating the operation of leaf blowers to exempt Business <br /> Park areas from Pleasanton Municipal Code Section 9.04.045, <br /> Leaf Blowers. <br /> <br /> - 1 - <br /> <br /> <br />
