195 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL SEPTEMBER 22, 1988 CALL TO ORDER Mayor Kenneth R. Mercer called the meeting of the City Council to order at 8:15 p.m. ROLL CALL The roll call is recorded as follows: City Council: Councilmembers Brandes, Mohr, and Mayor Mercer were present. Councilmembers Butler and Wilson were absent. Park and Recreation Commission: Commissioners Fields, Oliverius, and Silva were present. School District Board: Board Members Ferreri, Haugen, and Schneider were present. City Staff: Mr. Walker, City Manager, and Ms. Bengtson, Director of Parks and Community Services, were present. School District Staff: Mr. James, School Superintendent, and Mr. Kroetch were present. DISCUSSION OF JOINT PROJECT WITH PLEASANTON SCHOOL DISTRICT TO CONSTRUCT'GYMNASIUMS A presentation was made by the Architects for the School District, hired to draw plans for the new middle school and for improvements to Harvest Park School. A review of the gymnasium plans were shown to the elected officials. These plans included 15,000 additional square feet of gymnasium space at the school sites for city use, for an approximate cost of five million dollars. After discussion with the School Board, Park and Recreation Commission, and City Council, the staffs of the School and City were instructed to report back on November 1, 1988 to the City Council on changes to the final recommended plans for the gymnasiums, a proposed agreement on City use of the facilities, and a preliminary financing plan for the City's approximately five million dollar share of the cost. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business at 9:45 p.m., Mayor Mercer adjourned the meeting to meet again in Regular Session on October 4, 1988, 7:30 p.m., in the Pleasanton Council Chambers.
