195 <br /> <br /> MINUTES <br /> OF <br /> THE MEETING <br /> OF <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> SEPTEMBER 22, 1988 <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> Mayor Kenneth R. Mercer called the meeting of the City <br />Council to order at 8:15 p.m. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> The roll call is recorded as follows: <br /> <br />City Council: Councilmembers Brandes, Mohr, and Mayor Mercer <br /> were present. Councilmembers Butler and Wilson <br /> were absent. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission: Commissioners Fields, Oliverius, <br /> and Silva were present. <br /> <br />School District Board: Board Members Ferreri, Haugen, and <br /> Schneider were present. <br /> <br />City Staff: Mr. Walker, City Manager, and Ms. Bengtson, <br /> Director of Parks and Community Services, were <br /> present. <br /> <br />School District Staff: Mr. James, School Superintendent, and Mr. <br /> Kroetch were present. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION OF JOINT PROJECT WITH PLEASANTON SCHOOL DISTRICT TO <br />CONSTRUCT'GYMNASIUMS <br /> A presentation was made by the Architects for the School <br />District, hired to draw plans for the new middle school and for <br />improvements to Harvest Park School. A review of the gymnasium <br />plans were shown to the elected officials. These plans included <br />15,000 additional square feet of gymnasium space at the school <br />sites for city use, for an approximate cost of five million <br />dollars. <br /> <br /> After discussion with the School Board, Park and Recreation <br />Commission, and City Council, the staffs of the School and City <br />were instructed to report back on November 1, 1988 to the City <br />Council on changes to the final recommended plans for the <br />gymnasiums, a proposed agreement on City use of the facilities, <br />and a preliminary financing plan for the City's approximately five <br />million dollar share of the cost. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> There being no further business at 9:45 p.m., Mayor Mercer <br />adjourned the meeting to meet again in Regular Session on October <br />4, 1988, 7:30 p.m., in the Pleasanton Council Chambers. <br /> <br /> <br />
