No action was required or taken by <br />Council on the item. <br /> <br />item 5b <br />Minutes from the Staff Traffic Committee Meetinq of March 2, 1989 <br /> Mr. Elliott presented his report (IR 89:21) dated March 21, <br />1989, regarding this matter. Councilmember Tarver requested <br />information regarding the status of the Big Brother Program. Mr. <br />Elliott stated he would get this information to Councilmember <br />Tarvet. <br /> <br />item 5c <br />Actions Taken by the Human Services Commission at their meetinq of <br />March 1, 1989 <br /> Ms. Bengtson presented her report (IR 89:23) dated March 21, <br />1989, regarding this matter. Councilmember Brandes stated he <br />would like to have the presentation that was made to the Human <br />Services Commission by the Affordable Housing Committee made to <br />the City Council, and he requested this item be placed on the next <br />agenda. Council concurred. <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS <br />item 6a <br />Report on Lawrence Livermore Laboratory Proposed Toxic Incinerator <br /> Mr. Swift presented his memorandum dated March 21, 1989, <br />regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mr. Joe Carlucci, 4150 Francisco, stated he has read <br />literature from both sides of this issue and he feels the <br />incinerator is a mistake. He felt the studies are insufficient <br />and inaccurate; the EIS does not answer all the questions and the <br />DOE is basing their information for building the project on this <br />EIS. He stated that safer alternatives are available. He advised <br />that other cities are opposing the proposed incinerator and he <br />felt that the Pleasanton City Council must take a stand in <br />opposition to the incinerators and request that a new EIS be <br />prepared to answer questions that are not considered in the <br />present EIS. <br /> <br /> Ms. Felicia Wiezbicki, 7077 Valley Trails Drive, presented <br />packets to the Council containing information related to the <br />burning of radioactive waste. She felt there is a real danger to <br />the people of the Valley if the incinerator is allowed to be <br />constructed. She stated that the documentation is insufficient <br />and does not address the hazards of the radioactive waste burning. <br /> <br /> - 5 - 3-21-89 <br /> <br /> <br />
