CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 88-98 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE PERSONNEL OF THE CITY OF <br /> PLEASANTON FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THE RESPONDING UNITS FROM <br /> THE MUTUAL AID AGENCIES OF DUBLIN 8AN RAMON SERVICES <br /> DISTRICT, CAMP PARKS AND THE LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL <br /> LABORATORY FOR THEIR AGGRESSIVE AND EFFECTIVE FIRE <br /> SUPPRESSION EFFORTS ON THE MORNING OF FEBRUARY 25t 1988 <br /> AT THE REGIS HOMES CONSTRUCTION SITE AT 6310 STONERIDGE <br /> MALL ROAD IN THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on the morning of February 25, 1988 at 7:56 a.m. a <br /> structure fire was reported at the above referenced <br /> location; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, upon the arrival of the first Pleasanton Fire Department <br /> Units, they were confronted by a large, rapid spreading <br /> fire within a three story apartment complex containing <br /> 520 apartments in various phases of construction; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Pleasanton Fire Department and the other <br /> Fire Agencies involved employed sound tactical fire <br /> ground decisions, made aggressive fire attacks and made <br /> defensive stands at critical positions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, these tactical operations proved effective in stopping <br /> the advancement of the fire and extinguishment of the <br /> sixty-five (65) units involved with only a resulting <br /> loss of approximately 2.9 million dollars; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this tremendous fire suppression effort, coupled with <br /> the advantage of the fire occurring at shift change <br /> providing double personnel coverage, saved the community <br /> from experiencing a direct fire loss which could have <br /> reached 20 million dollars; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The Personnel of the Fire Departments of the City of <br /> Pleasanton, Dublin San Ramon Services District, Camp <br /> Parks, and the Lawrence Livemore National Laboratory <br /> are commended for their effective fire suppression <br /> efforts on the morning of February 25, 1988, at the <br /> Regis Homes Construction site at 6310 Stoneridge Mall <br /> Road in the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> <br />
