CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS
Item 9a
Planning Commission Request for Vineyard Avenue Study

Mr. Swift presented his report (SR 90:490) regarding the
matter.

Ms. Mohr commented that a Vineyard Avenue Study (VAS) would
overlap with the study being done by the Fertile Crescent
Committee, which is scheduled to meet in January. A draft of the
Fertile Crescent Study (FCS) refers to the VAS area as the
Pleasanton Gateway to the Fertile Crescent area and proposes a
growth unit per acre of four for the VAS area, which is not what
the Pleasanton General Plan calls for. She indicated that the
Alameda County Board of Supervisors is not responding to the fact
that Pleasanton has this intervening property for which no plans
currently exist and that it would be short-sighted to leave out
this area that is significant to Pleasanton in getting to Ruby Hill
while responding to the nature of the developments foreseen for the
area. She continued that since some property owners in the VAS
area have expressed concern about the Ruby Hill development and
have requested annexation, Council needs to make sure that the
Board of Supervisors understands the demands the Ruby Hill
development will have on the VAS area. She requested that staff
prepare a list of projects it is currently working on for Council
to review so that Council can prioritize the list at its second
meeting in January. By that time Council would have a better
indication of the direction the Board of Supervisors will be taking
with respect to the Ruby Hill project.

- 27 -
12-11-90
